Mid-Century Modern Chic

The 1950s, 60s and 70s are an iconic era and one which saw a huge amount of change and emerging creativity after the austerity of the war years. Nowhere is this better demonstrated than in the increasingly popular furniture of the time.

When it arrives in the workshop, every piece of furniture has already lived a life, providing style and practicality in the homes of the great British public since as early as the 1940s. Each item is then carefully restored and refinished before being reimagined with a bespoke Formica® design.

Formica® laminate was invented in 1912 by Daniel J. O’Conor and Herbert A. Faber and has become synonymous with mid century living. Durable, available in a wide range of colours and easy to clean, Formica® soon became a housewives’ favourite and was seen in kitchens across the globe.
Today Formica® continues to provide a colourful and stylish addition to many homes.

If you have a favourite piece of furniture which you would like reimagined with Formica® using an existing MTFD design or something totally bespoke, please get in touch.

In addition to mid century furniture, MTFD uses Formica® to create stunning bespoke kitchens with custom designs to your brief. Whether your preference is for geometric shapes in fresh modern colours, iconic imagery from the 1950s or 60s, or the riotous colour of wildflowers in bloom, please get in touch and let’s get a conversation started about your one-of-a-kind new kitchen.
